The two men arrested on charges of abducting and raping a 30-year-old BPO employee in south Delhi, were given the cold shoulder by fellow inmates when they were sent to Tihar jail after being produced in a city court on Thursday.

The two accused, Shamshad alias Khutkan (25) and Usman alias Kale (25), have been lodged at jail number 8 and 9 in Tihar.

"They have been lodged with others arrested for heinous offences such as murder and robbery. They have kept quiet since the moment they were brought here, and no one is interacting with them," said Sunil Gupta, legal officer, Tihar prisons.

"We have to take utmost care of prisoners arrested on sexual charges, as they are always the target of other inmates who see them as a threat to society," said a prison official.

The two accused were again produced before a city court on Friday that sent them to judicial custody till Monday. The accused will undergo a test identification parade by the victim.

For instance, Usman was earlier arrested in a gang rape case reported from Faridabad in Haryana and was out on bail.
