Russia on Monday vouched for the safety of its reactors even as the two countries bargained hard for signing commercial agreements for reactors 3 and 4.

The visiting Russian deputy prime minister, Dmitry Rogozin, after his talks with external affairs minister S M Krishna, also urged the government to help solve issues that affect business.
The Russian-made reactors are housed at the nuclear power park in Kudankulam where locals have been holding protests. Rogozin asserted that the Russian reactors were safest in the world.
Krishna said the technical and commercial discussions for reactors 3 and 4 with the Russia were on but Russia has made it clear that bringing other two reactors under the civil nuclear legislation would push up the costs.
Meanwhile, the visiting Russian leader stressed on bettering the ties between the two countries, calling the governments to demonstrate will to address the concerns of the businessmen.
