Pace Notes: Convent of Jesus and Mary School hosts grand carnival

Later he, accompanied by Raj Pal, founder chairman, Sailander Solanki, chairman, Prem Chand Palety, guest of honour, Ishwar Singh, advisor, and Nita Arora, principal, lighted the lamp of knowledge. The event began with the beats of the orchestra followed by a Sufi Qawwali, an array of western dances and a ballad titled Dashavatar. The programme concluded with the award ceremony and a vote of thanks.

Convent of Jesus and Mary School, Bangla Sahib Marg, hosted Iridescence, grand carnival. Tejinder Khanna, lieutenant governor of Delhi, inaugurated the carnival. Students and parents enjoyed rides, games and the delicious food. RJ Nitin of Fever 104 FM and Abhinav Chaturvedi, 'Nanhe' of Hum Log fame entertained the guests.

Over 100 prizes were up for grabs including a trip for two to Bangkok and a Nano car. The dance floor and the grand raffle also drew crowds. The carnival registered a footfall of over 11,000 people and was hosted by the PTA of Convent of Jesus and Mary.

Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj, was declared the overall national champion at the Inter-DPS National Western Music Competition-2011, held at DPS, RK Puram. The victorious team defeated fourteen zonal winners from all over the country to bag the first position in the solo category.

Participants from 10 schools of Delhi and NCR discussed and commented on the novel's narrative style, use of language, characters and the various issues raised by it. Sorabjee expressed his delight at the choice of the novel and the students' profound and apt analysis of the book.

Also present to grace the occasion were Dr Rajni Kumar, chairperson, Springdales Education Society; General Narender Singh, chairman, Springdales, Pusa; P Loomba, manager, Springdales Schools, and Mrs Basra, former headmistress, Springdales School, Pusa Road.
