The 23-year-old BBA student's family had claimed that his body was found in more than 10 pieces within a kilometre of the railway track near Pandav Nagar.

But the police countered that his body was "crushed" as being run over by a train and was not hacked.

Unhappy with the alleged slow pace of investigation, Bhasin's family on Tuesday said they will approach higher authorities to demand a CBI probe into the matter.

Sanjay Jain, DCP (crime and railways), said, "The body of Paras Bhasin was not cut into pieces. Apparently, it was mutilated after being hit by a train."

Bhasin's family, however, rejected the police claims as efforts to hush up the matter by proving it a case of suicide.

"Delhi police are trying to protect the family of Bhasin's wife who were threatening him from the past couple of days. We have decided to pursue the case with higher authorities and demand a CBI inquiry into the matter," said Karan, Bhasin's brother-in-law.

The police also claimed to have identified the person who had made around 15 calls on the mobile phone of Bhasin's mother.

According to police, the caller is a school boy, who was crossing the railway track when he saw a body lying there.

"The boy told us that he found Bhasin's wallet near the track, took out a visiting card, and made the calls on the number mentioned in the card," said a senior police officer.

Bhasin's family, however, said that the phone number on which the calls were made was not mentioned on the visiting card.

Police are planning to seek a list of trains and the name of drivers and co-drivers, who passed the Pandav Nagar area between 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm on the fateful day to find whether Paras jumped in front of the train or he was pushed by somebody, said a police officer.
