An angry 15-year-old schoolgirl ran away from her south Delhi apartment after her parents decided to drop an outstation trip which she had been planning with her family for weeks.

Within hours, her parents got a case of kidnapping registered at the local police station.
"I was sleeping next to my son while my daughter did her homework in the next room and her mother cooked lunch last Friday," said Virender Singh, 44, a resident of Alaknanda's Nilgiri Apartments.
"Suddenly, around 1.30pm, my wife woke me up and told me that our daughter was missing. I ran outside and saw that the main door to our house had been locked from outside," said Singh.
Dozens of frantic calls were then exchanged between a terribly anxious Singh, his whole family and the residents of his apartment block.
But the seven-hour-long drama had a happy ending, as Vaishali (name changed) returned home after her family went as far as ISBT, Kashmere Gate, in search of her.
"She had mistakenly activated the padlock while leaving the house before going and sitting at a small temple in colony's park," said a senior police officer.

Meanwhile, Vaishali's parents have promised her an outstation outing at the earliest.
