The PCO was owned by a physically challenged man.

It was demolished for beautification of the area ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw directed MCD to pay the amount to Satish Manchanda, within four weeks, failing which it would incur an interest of 12 per cent per annum.

"From the photographs filed in the case, it is clear that the property of Manchanda has been damaged. The alleged contemnor, MCD, would in any case be liable to compensate him for the same," Justice Endlaw said.

According to Manchanda, he had spent Rs 1.5 lakh on construction of the PCO structure. Due to the MCD action, the belongings in the shop were lost, besides loss in income estimated to be above Rs 50,000.

Manchanda claimed the MCD had demolished his kiosk, despite a stay order, from this very court.
