He led the nation to glory by winning the under-19 cricket world cup in Australia recently. Now, St Stephen’s principal Valson Thampu hopes Unmukt Chand can do the same for his college.

Thampu expressed his wish on Tuesday during a ceremony to felicitate Chand, who is, incidentally, embroiled in a battle with Delhi University over attendance issues.
“We would like to see you play for the college as well. We all would like that,” the principal said.
The under-19 cricket captain, meanwhile, played it safe and did not make any commitments. “I don’t know what will happen next. I don’t know if I will be able to attend college and maintain good attendance or if I will be able to take examinations in the next semester,” Chand, who maintained that he is proud of being a Stephanian, said.
However, judging by Chand’s schedule, playing for his college may be a tough task. “He is very busy. He will leave for Bangalore, then fly to New Zealand and South Africa,” Thampu said.
