For a law enforcement agency infamous for daily tussles over jurisdiction, the Delhi Police is acting unusual vis-avis inducting more officers and creating more police stations.

"The force has 83,000 as its official strength and as many as 184 police stations. All this manpower gives rise to jurisdiction tussles daily and it will only get aggravated this year," said a senior police officer.

On July 21, 2010, eight hours after they were mugged by a gang of robbers, Elena Francis Harrison, 33 and Ranjeet Singh, 35 were shunted across five police stations in west Delhi to get their complaint registered.

Unidentified bodies found on railway stations become a topic of deliberation between the General Railway Police (GRP) and the district police daily.

"All officers will be instructed to handle such cases with sensitivity," Gupta added.
