Delhi police on Saturday opposed the bail plea of suspended IAS officer Ravi Inder Singh, accused of passing official information to unauthorised persons, saying that the matter was still at the initial stage of investigation.

"The officer has been sent to judicial custody after being in custodial interrogation for six days. The matter is still at early stage of investigation," Public Prosecutor Rajeev Mohan told Special Judge Rakesh Siddharth.

The officer, then working as a Director Internal Security in Ministry of Home Affairs, was arrested along with Vineet Kumar, CMD of Kolkata-based Temptation Food Pvt Ltd, who was allegedly acting as a middleman for him, by Delhi police's Special Cell on November 23.

The prosecutor supplied a written reply to the application to Singh's counsel, who had filed it on November 30, on the court's direction.

The court adjourned the matter for December 13 after Singh's counsel sought time for arguments.

Singh is alleged to have taken illegal gratification from co-accused Kumar in terms of his lodging expenses at a guest house here since his deputation to New Delhi from Kolkata in January this year. He also allegedly used a car provided by Kumar.

A case was registered under various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code dealing with criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence against the duo.
