‘Police refused to acknowledge the snatching’

Fifty-five-year-old Bina Jain has changed her daily routine. She has even stopped wearing a gold chain or leaving her home after dark. The reason: Her chain was snatched right outside her house, Faizan Haider reports.

Fifty-five-year-old Bina Jain has changed her daily routine. She has even stopped wearing a gold chain or leaving her home after dark. The reason: Her chain was snatched right outside her house.

“I was going to the temple with my husband and had just left the house while my husband was taking out the car. Suddenly one person on a bike came, snatched the chain I was wearing and zoomed away. It took me two minutes to realise what had happened," Jain said.

It was a passerby who reached her first and helped a shocked Jain recover. Her husband, who was in the car, rushed out to save her.

However, what was even more shocking was the response they got from the police. “We approached three police personnel who were standing nearby. They simply refused to acknowledge that there had been any snatching incident. When we pressed them, they said that they hadn’t even seen a biker fleeing,” Jain said.

Police have so far failed to arrest the accused in this case.
