Traffic police placed restrictions on the movement of vehicles on roads around the Rashtrapati Bhavan and Parliament on another sultry July morning in view of Mukherjee’s swearing-in, resulting in jams and trouble for those on their way to offices.
Although the roads were not off-limits for traffic, the restrictions were imposed at the times of VIP movements.
Traffic movement was affected on roads to Rajghat, Vijay Chowk, Rashtrapati Bhavan and Parliament, the traffic police said.
“The movement of traffic had to be restricted during VIP movements. However, the situation normalised by 2pm,” Satyendra Garg, the joint commissioner of police (traffic), said.
Traffic jams were reported from areas such as Najafgarh Road, Karkarduma, Sahadra, Anand Parbat and Dwarka Morh in the morning, said traffic police.
