A probe has been ordered into the death of four labourers while they were cleaning a sewer at a treatment plant in northwest Delhi, officials said on Friday.

"The incident took place last (Thursday) evening when four labourers got into a sewer at the Combined Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) at Lawrence road. Four labourers of the contractor, who is in charge of maintenance of the CETP, lost their lives while one was injured and has been hospitalised," a police officer said.
The Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) has ordered an inquiry that would be conducted by its executive director and the deputy commissioner of the industries department.
The DSIIDC has also announced compensation of Rs 100,000 to the kin of each of those killed and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
