"We have already started repairing some roads. We will complete the work before the monsoon hits Delhi," Delhi PWD secretary Nutan Guha Biwas said.
Senior PWD engineers said the roads that Delhi government has taken over from the MCD are top priority. Engineers said some of these stretches in areas like northwest, west and outer Delhi are in a very bad shape and need to be repaired at the earliest.
Delhi government has taken over 499 roads of less than 60 feet width, which were earlier being maintained by the MCD, and has given them to the PWD for repair and maintenance.
Meanwhile, the PWD has also decided to buy three pothole repairing machines for faster repair of roads. The machines are likely to cost Rs 1.25 crore each, an engineer said.
