Congress leader Rahul Gandhi turned 41 on Sunday with birthday wishes from party leaders across the country ranging from seeing him as the Prime Minister to getting married this year.

Leading the Congress workers wishlist for the young leader was party general secretary and senior leader Digvijaya Singh, who is closely associated with Gandhi on the organisational matters.
“I think it is time that Rahul become the Prime Minister. He has been working for the party for the last seven to eight years and has the right qualities, instincts and experience to take up the mantle,” Singh said.
Singh also wants Gandhi to get married this year. He, however left it to Gandhi to decide on taking up the mantle of prime ministership.
The Uttar Pradesh unit of the Congress utilised the day to reach out to the farmers. Gandhi’s birthday was celebrated all over the state by party workers as Kisan Adhikar Diwas (Farmers’ Rights Day). The assembly polls in UP are due early next year.
Gandhi also received birthday greetings from an unexpected quarter with the BJP leader Uma Bharti wishing him a very long and happy life.
