Srivastava will take over the post after incumbent M L Kumawat retires on July 31.

Srivastava, currently holding the post of Special Secretary (Internal Security) in the Ministry of Home Ministry, belongs to the Kerala cadre and will hold the charge of BSF till his superannuation on October 2011 or further orders, an official statement said.
