Yoga guru Ramdev's yoga camp at Ramlila Ground, where thousands of his devotees poured in, caused inconvenience to many general commuters in the national Capital on Saturday.
People faced difficulties while commuting to New Delhi Railway Station due to traffic diversions at many places. No DTC or chartered bus was allowed on Ranjit Singh Marg towards Guru Nanak Chowk.
Besides, traffic police also imposed restrictions on vehicular movement on Tilak Marg, C Hexagon, Mathura Road, Bhairon Road, RC Agarwal Chowk, Minto Road terminal, Jhandewalan, Chatta Rail Chowk, New Daryaganj road among others.
Barricades were put in place on the Jawaharlal Nehru Marg - Asaf Ali Marg roundabout and the vehicles coming from Vivekanand Marg and Ajmeri Gate were diverted through Asaf Ali Marg instead of Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg.
"We have deployed about 500 traffic personnel to regulate traffic in the area. Besides, a sufficient number of cranes, disaster management and recovery vans were deployed in the area for any kind of eventuality," said Satyendra Garg, JCP (traffic).
According to traffic officials, restrictions on these roads led to some congestion in areas like Delhi Gate, Daryaganj, ITO, Rajghat and Connaught Place.
