The BJP-led South Corporation on Monday urged the Delhi government to do away with several clauses in its master plan so that unauthorised colonies can be regularised. On top of the list is the mandatory requirement of six-nine metres wide roads in front of houses, to get the fire clearances.

However, most of the colonies that are to be regularised have roads that are less than 2 metres wide. Another clause says that if a colony has encroached upon government land, the house owners will have to pay the cost of the acquired land. This will amount to a few lakhs or individual homes.
“The corporation wants to regularise all the colonies but until the clauses are removed, it is not feasible,” said Subhash Arya, leader of the House, South Corporation. The BJP leadership has demanded that all unauthorised colonies be regularised as they are. They will protest if their demands are not met.
