The reliability of EVMs had been questioned by a number of political parties and these should be replaced by the
traditional ballot paper system, he told a news conference here.

"Eighty per cent of national and regional parties have questioned the reliability of EVMs. Till adequate safeguards
are put in place to guard against their malfunctioning, these shall be replaced by ballot papers in coming assembly polls,"
he said.

The Election Commission should call a meeting of all political parties and technical experts in this regard at the
earliest, the BJP leader said.

He, however, said the defeat of the party in the recent Lok Sabha polls had nothing to do with complaints about the
EVMs.
