There is good news for commuters. Delhi Metro is not likely to revise its fare structure soon.

The ministry of urban development is yet to form a new fare fixation committee to study and revise metro fares. The committee was supposed to be formed by April by the ministry, which had dissolved the previous committee on 'technical ground', about a month ago.
“No time limit can be fixed for the formation of such new committees,” said Sudhir Krishna, secretary of the Ministry of urban development.
The delay, though not being grudged by the commuters, has upset Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), which claims it had been bearing major losses.
One of the main reasons that prompted the DMRC to opt for a fare revision was a steep increase in its operating expenses because of power consumption. “We have been incurring heavy losses especially after power tariff hike in June 2012,” a DMRC official said.
The last fare revision took place in 2009.
