According to police, the men had robbed jewellery worth lakhs of rupees and Rs 1.25 lakh in cash after they overpowered the landlady and threatened to kill her newborn baby if she resisted.

After the robbery, the robbers locked the landlady, identified as Krishna Devi, in the kitchen and fled with the booty, said a police officer.

The arrested persons have been identified as Syed Shahnawaz Miyan Noori alias Shanu, the mastermind of the robbery and his accomplice, Vikas Naranag alias Vicky.

Shanu, a native of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, was also involved in a murder case at his hometown.

The other two robbers, Akram Khan and Irfan Ali, have already been arrested in the case, the officer added.

On May 23, the accused, posing as MCD employees, had entered the house of the victim on the pretext of checking her air-cooler.
