Delhi Police is likely to take a final call on its dream project, Intelligent Traffic System (ITS), on Thursday. If everything goes as per plan, work for the mega project worth over Rs300 crore will kick off within a few months. The entire
system is expected to be in place by September 2013.

Two companies — Vyam Tech and Aster — have already cleared technical and financial bids. Now financial evaluation and negotiations are on with both the companies by RITES, a government of India enterprise which is the consultant for the project. Satyender Kumar, group general manager of RITES, however, refused to comment.
"We hope that we will be able to finalise the company which would be awarded the project in the purchase committee meeting on Thursday," said Ajay Chadha, special commissioner of police (administration and traffic).
The Union budget has given Rs70 crore to the Delhi police for the ITS and Cyber Highway projects. Already, Rs7 crore has been spent on the cyber highway project. A senior police officer said the remaining Rs63 crore will be used to kick start it.New Delhi.
