The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday issued notices to Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh governments on a petition that says that the public transport system in the NCR is not public-friendly and requires improvement.

A bench headed by Justice Dalveer Bhandari also sought response from the Centre on the PIL filed by an NGO, Voice of India, submitting SC should intervene and direct authorities to upgrade the services. The petitioner said the standard followed in Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh should be followed here as well.
“It is submitted that the DTC, which is called the lifeline of the national Capital has become a source of nuisance and constant harassment for the general public and its green and red coloured buses are goody-goody in appearance, but in fact, incommodious in reality,” the petition read.
