SC to help man’s hunt for biological mother

The Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to help an Indian adopted by a German couple 37 years ago, to look for his biological mother.

Arun Dohle, who claims his biological father was a “big man”, was adopted by Micheal and Gertrude Dohle when he was at a Pune based child-care center — Kusumbai Motichand Mahila Seva Gram.

In his petition in the SC, Dohle has claimed NCP leader Sharad Pawar’s youngest brother Pratap Pawar had facilitated his adoption in 1975.

A bench posted the matter for Thursday as the court could not locate a report submitted by the Maharashtra police. The report was filed subsequent to an SC order directing the state police to locate Dohle’s mother.

Dohle’s counsel argued if he had a biological mother, he could not have been given in adoption. The advocate added the authorities have avoided providing information on his biological mother. He claimed the woman was living in the same child-care centre.

The Maharashtra police and the centre have said the adoption procedure was as per SC directions.

Since his return in 2003 Dohle (30) has been looking for his biological mother. He alleged the centre rebuffed him during his efforts.

The HC had ruled that the center could not be asked to reveal the identity of his mother.
