Sources said Singh may face the axe for non-implementation of the semester system.

The college, in spite of repeated notices by the university to implement the semester system, has been teaching in the annual mode.

On October 23, the Registrar sent a letter to former Justice Vijender Jain, who is the chairman of the college's governing body, asking for Singh's suspension.

The letter stated that it was in reference to the letter dated October 4, where a reply was sought from the principals of the colleges regarding implementation of semester system.

It said Singh's reply to the October 4 letter showed that he had made no efforts to organize teaching in the way prescribed by the university.

It further stated: "Bhim Sen has failed to act as expected from a principal of the university maintained college."

A meeting of the college's governing body to discuss the matter is expected on November 2.

On Monday, the DU vice chancellor had said he will write to the University Grants Commission to enforce a 'no work, no salary' notice to teachers. The frequent strikes have meant students have missed 18 days of classes so far.

The semester end examinations had to be rescheduled from Novermber to December.

Meanwhile, DUTA have again struck work from Monday and plan to continue it till October 29.
