A director of the Central Water Commission has been arrested for confining and raping a woman for over a year at his west Delhi house, police said on Saturday.

Manjeet Singh, 45, was arrested from his residence at Vikaspuri's L-Block after a complaint by the woman.
"According to the 40-year-old complainant, Singh had lured her to his residence on January 26 last year and had confined her there. He had been forcing himself upon her since," said an officer.
Police said the victim had claimed that Singh had initially promised to marry her but when she realised that he had been merely fooling her, she decided to escape and had been staying at a rented accommodation for the past three months.
"Singh, she claims, had also threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed anything about their relationship to anyone. However, a few months ago, Singh's mother had lodged a complaint against the victim, alleging that she had been blackmailing her son to grab his property," the officer said.
