The incident has left the residents shocked who plan to employ guards. In the neighbouring E Block, residents have chipped in to install CCTVs.
The robbers first broke into B-276 but found nothing. At around 3.15am, they moved to the ground-floor house of SP Bansal (65), who runs an accountancy firm in Bengali Market, said police.
They scaled the boundary wall and broke open the main and the entry gates, said Bhaskar Bansal, the couple’s elder son, who lives on the second floor. They then locked the door that connected first floor to the ground floor, said Bhaskar, 38, who was called by his parents after the crime.
Holding Bansal on knife-point, the robbers forced his wife, Sneha (65), to handover valuables. “They threatened to kill my father and family,” said Bhaskar. The robbers took away R1 lakh, five diamond rings, silver coins and some gold.
