Out of respect for her parents, Sakshi had rejected Subhash’s marriage proposal, who had allegedly been her lover for five years and paid with her life for that decision.

According to her father Pritam, Sakshi wanted to become a professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). “Despite a limited source of income, we always supported her,” he said.

“Apart from being a bright student, she was good at managing the house too,” said her father, adding that Subhash had been threatening to kill Sakshi and himself for five months.

“We rejected his proposal as he is our relative and almost double her age,” he added.
