Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Friday met party leaders from Karnataka in the backdrop of the raging row over illegal mining in the BJP-ruled state.

Those who met Gandhi inclued AICC general secretary for the state Ghulam Nabi Azad, PCC chief R V Deshpandey and CLP leader Siddhaaramaiah.
The meeting came on a day when Karnataka assembly was adjourned sine die, cutting short the session by nearly a fortnight with the Opposition continuing its indefinite dharna demanding a CBI probe into alleged illegal mining in the state.
Congress has dubbed the BJP rule in the state as as "Goondaraj" and demanded action against the controversial Reddy brothers without naming them.
Gandhi met the Karnataka leaders as a part of the review exercise of the organizational elections in all the states.
The Congress President has so far reviewed the progress in the memebership drive, organizational elections and the state unit's preparations for programmes to celebrate the completion of 125 years of Congress.
