Soumya’s father calls on Jigeesha’s mother

Police claim both families lost their daughters to the same killers.

“I went to meet them (Jigeesha’s parents) in the morning. Jigeesha’s father had gone to immerse her ashes, so I could not meet him but I met her mother. They need all the support they can get right now,” said Vishwanathan.

Savita Ghosh, Jigeesha’s mother, had read about Soumya’s case. “The police said it was a blind case. Finally, the CCTV footage helped them get Soumya’s killer as well. I am happy that they got justice,” she said.

On the Ghoshes’ efforts to source the CCTV footage from a watch shop in Sarojini Nagar that led to the arrest of the alleged killers, MK Vishwanathan said, “We are thankful to them.”

The Ghoshes’ dogged efforts threw up vital leads that helped the South Delhi Police arrest the alleged murderers of both Jigeesha and Soumya.

Savita Ghosh (62) experiences nausea while traveling in a cab but in order to find Jigeesha, she braved that ordeal last week. “I feel nauseous while travelling in cars, so I try to stay away from them as much as possible. But on March 19, the
only thing on my mind was to find Jigeesha. The drive to Sarojini Nagar Market was a hellish experience,” she said.

Savita Ghosh still finds it difficult to believe that her daughter is no more.

“Last night, my husband and I were standing at the colony gate hoping against hope that Jigeesha would come. She was so good, she could harm no one. Why did they kill her?” she said.

Now the only thing which both the Vishwanathans and the Ghoshes want is death for the four accused in the case. “Justice should be swift and they should all get death. They killed innocent people and that is what they deserve,” said Savita Ghosh.
