Following the visit by the Delhi municipal school students, a batch of students from the North-eastern states are expected to come to the national Capital for a week.

The idea is to allow students to visit a different part of the country and learn about the diverse cultures.

"There is a lot of misconception about people belonging to different states and it is important to train young minds about the need for inclusiveness. The students who will visit the North-eastern states can come back and share their experiences with the other students thereby spreading the lesson," said Satish Upadhyay, chairman of the education committee.

According to civic body officials, the programme has been finalized and the first batch of students is likely to leave the capital in the last week of March - after the final exams are over.

"It is not enough to maintain the law and order situation. There is urgent need to sensitise the residents of Delhi about respecting other cultures," added Upadhayay.

As per the programme, students on the tour will be required to make projects about what they learnt and share them with others. They are also making arrangements to spruce up the profile of the students, who would be part of the exchange program, officials said.
