The decision was taken at SP's Parliamentary party meeting held in New Delhi.

"The reason behind this decision is to reorganise these bodies by putting in place party leaders and workers, who have worked towards strengthening the party in the elections. Such people will be given prominence in place of non-performers," party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav told reporters after the meeting.

The meeting unanimously elected party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav as Parliamentary party's president, who decided to dissolve its state units and front organisations in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir, he said.

He said Yadav, who is empowered to take all the important decisions on behalf of the party related to Parliamentary affairs, directed the 23 newly-elected MPs of the party to take active part in debates in Parliament.
