Stalker throws acid on woman in west Delhi

A 25-year-old woman had acid thrown on her when she resisted a molestation attempt by a man who had been stalking her for some time. The 20-year-old accused has been arrested.

A 25-year-old woman had acid thrown on her when she resisted a molestation attempt by a man who had been stalking her for some time. The 20-year-old accused has been arrested.

The incident took place in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar on January 8. The man, Israr, barged into the victim’s house and tried to grope her, police said. When she ordered him to leave and screamed, he whipped out the acid and threw it at her face. However, she deflected the vial and the acid landed on her torso.

“The acid dripped below her waist and made her faint. She was rushed to hospital with 20% burns and underwent treatment for the next three days,” an officer said. “The victim, in her statement, said he had been after her for a while.”

A case of molestation and attempt to murder has been registered.
