As External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna is travelling to Washington for the Indo-US Strategic Dialogue, the American administration is taking extra measures to battle the perception that Indo-US ties are less warm under the Obama presidency.

While the dialogue is expected to cover a range of issues, the groundwork will also be done for the November visit of President Barack Obama to India.
But, security cooperation and counter-terrorism measures will weigh high on the agenda of the talks. Krishna and his team will be there from June 1 to 4.
Krishna will be accompanied by senior officials including Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao.
“The Strategic Dialogue will enhance the Global Strategic Partnership between India and the US, by serving as a very important mechanism to review, enhance and coordinate our broad-based cooperation”, said Vishnu Prakash, the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs.
