Students of Summer Fields School, Gurgaon celebrated its annual day with 'Expressions 2012: A literary pageant' as a part of the year-long celebration of their silver jubilee at Epicentre, Gurgaon.
Former US ambassador Ronen Sen and ex-Delhi chief secretary Shailaja Chandra were the special guests on the occasion. They inaugurated the event and also felicitated the meritorious students with CBSE scholarships and merit certificates.
Rabindra sangeet, the patriotic Vande Mataram and Gulzar and Bhupen Hazarika's masterpiece 'Ganga behti hai kyun' were the highlights of the show. A special edition of the school magazine, 'Signature Summerites', was also released.
Delhi Public School, Mathura Road organised Master chef for the students of junior wing. Class IV students displayed cuisines of different states of India while Class V students displayed international cuisines like Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Mexican. Every participant along with a teacher showcased the rich culture of different land through costumes, handicrafts, monuments, music, dance besides regional cuisine.
Manava Bharati India International School, Panchsheel Park organised a dance performance by the renowned Manipuri artist Bimbavati Devi who is a recipient of the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar from the Sangeet Natak Akademi. Kalavati Devi, professor of Manipuri dance at Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata and the school principal Bharati Pandey inaugurated the event. The dance recital was followed by a demonstration of Thang Ta, a Manipuri martial art. Bimbavati Devi ended the performance by highlighting the importance of learning dance and music from childhood.
