The Congress led UPA government got eight of its members suspended from the Lok Sabha for disrupting the House while seeking a separate state of Telangana.

The MPs from Andhra Pradesh carrying Telangana related banners began their protest as soon as the House resumed work after a month-long break and refused to heed the advise of senior ministers - P Chidambaram, Pawan Kumar Bansal and V Narayanasamy - to return to their seats.

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the house but the MPs continued their protest as soon as the House resumed. The MPs were shouting anti-UPA government slogans for dithering on a separate Telangana state.

It was then, Parliamentary affairs minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, who apparently got approval of Congress president Sonia Gandhi to move a resolution seeking their suspension as opposition parties - BJP and the Left - took a dig at Congress for failing to put its house in order.

The House was adjourned once again after the day’s listed business was introduced.

At 2pm Bansal read out the resolution seeking suspension of the eight MPs for the rest of the week (four days) which was approved by a voice vote. However, the MPs continued their protest even after the Speaker asked them to leave the House, forcing the House to be adjourned for the third time. High drama continued as the suspended MP refused to leave the house and staged a sit-in, forcing the speaker to finally adjourn the House for the day.
