The green side of DU colleges
The Delhi colleges have active environmental societies encouraging students to imbibe ‘green’ habits.
A number of Delhi University colleges are conscious of the depleting greens in the city. They have active environmental societies encouraging students to imbibe ‘green’ habits. Miranda’s environment society, ‘MH Vatavarn’ has turned the college into a green haven by adopting a waste management programme.

The college also has a rainwater harvesting facility. Dr. Neelam Kalia of the college says religious symbols such as “Surya Dev”, “Tulsi” and sacred cows can help inspire Gen-Y. Dr. Valson Thampu, the officiating principal of St. Stephen’s, says: “The Wildlife Society, as opposed to the common misconception, adheres to its responsibilities of inspiring and motivating (students), with regard to the environment at large and not just animals.”
