The iconic blue Wagon R, which became Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s trademark in 2013 and once accommodated the entire Delhi cabinet for an emergency meeting last year, may go back to its original owner.

Disillusioned with the recent upheaval in the party, UK-based software engineer Kundan Sharma, who donated the car to Kejriwal for election campaigning, wants it back.

Party members have said that he is free to come to the party office and take it back.

In a series of tweets, Sharma demanded that the party return the car, the bike and ‘lakhs of rupees’ which he had donated to the party.

Kejriwal passed it on to Naveen Jaihind, the party’s Rohtak candidate for general elections. Jaihind, however, returned the car to the party, post the general elections. It is now being used by party members and volunteers in Delhi.

According to Sharma, he was disappointed that the party had decided to throw out its own lokpal (ombudsman) when questions about the party functioning were raised. He also tweeted that this was not the party that he had made donations to.

Sharma also tweeted that the party should introduce a right to get refund instead of right to recall MLAs since the latter looked impossible.

The party, meanwhile, scoffed at Sharma and said that he needs to look at the rules of donations.

“The car is still being used by the party and is in Delhi. I don’t want to comment on the amount of money Sharma donated but he needs to look at the rules of donation. Once he has given the money and this money has been used by the party, how can he ask us to return it?” said senior party leader Pankaj Gupta.
