Three persons were injured, one critically, after a speeding garbage truck allegedly jumped the traffic signal and rammed a Tata Indica car at the Daryaganj-Delhi Gate intersection in the early hours of Sunday.
According to the police, the accident took place around 3am and two of the injured persons have been identified as Farhan and Waqar. The errant truck driver fled after the incident, leaving his vehicle around 30 metres away from the accident spot.
A senior police officer said the car was coming from Daryaganj side when it was hit by the speeding truck. "Five persons were seated inside the truck when the accident occurred. While two of them left the spot on their own, the other three were lying injured inside the car. They were rushed to LNJP hospital for medical attention," he added.
