A 42-year-old grain merchant was feared abducted in Narela area of northwest Delhi on Saturday. The businessman was reportedly abducted when he was walking towards his shop at Anaj Mandi in Narela around 8 a.m.
The missing man has been identified as Surendra Kumar, a resident of Murthal district of Sonepat in Haryana. Kumar used to travel to Delhi every day by train from Sonepat for his business. Surendra and his brother Narendra are grains traders.
When the news spread, angry traders staged a demonstration and blocked roads near the wholesale market in Narela to protest against the abduction.
“Surendra Kumar reached his shop around 7 a.m. He left for the wholesale market which is about a kilometre away but never reached there. His younger brother Narendra, who was at the shop, suspected something was wrong when he reached the grain market and did not find his brother. He called on his brother's mobile phone which was switched off,” said a senior police officer.
Police said around 10 a.m. Narendra received a call from his brother. "Surendra called his brother from his mobile phone and told him that he had been kept in a dark room at an undisclosed location. He said his eyes had been covered with a black cloth and that he was drugged,” said the officer.

{{/usCountry}}Surendra called up his brother twice again but the family has not received any calls for ransom.
There were unconfirmed reports that four-five men in a car abducted Surendra outside the wholesale market. Police, however, could not verify this. Police have registered a case.
