Taking no chances on the security front, the traffic police have decided to deploy as many 100 towing away vehicles to keep a check on illegally parked cars and two-wheelers in market areas.

Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, S.N. Srivastav said, “We will press all the tow- away vehicles into service. We have asked people to not park their vehicles in a haphazardly way around busy market areas.”

He added that this was a security risk and the traffic personnel would be extra strict while dealing with such vehicles.

Advising the public on the traffic jams during this festive season, Srivastav said people should avoid the arterial roads, as there are chances that there might be heavy traffic jams on these roads.

“People should also try and make more use of public transports like the Metro as it will ease traffic on roads,” Srivastav added.

The traffic police will also conduct checks at various locations on Diwali.

As many as sixteen cameras have been fixed at important junctions to cover people’s movements in the area. There is a control room with monitors where an operator will be present.

The operator will be keep an eye to detect suspicious movements of persons and abandoned objects and will consequently alert security guards and the market in case of any emergency.

A public address system is already present.
