In an attempt to increase traffic literacy of the road users, Delhi Traffic Police have embarked on a mission to instill intersection discipline on 55 major junctions across the city.

As has been the habit of Capital's commuters, be it four-wheeler drivers or two-wheeler riders or for that matter even drivers of the commercial vehicles, road violations like not stopping before the stop line at the junction, bringing the vehicle bang on the zebra crossing or not stopping in the correct lane before the signal are rampant.
Another step to be implemented by traffic personnel would be to synchronise signal timings according to the traffic volume from a particular side to give lesser waiting time at the intersection.
The 55 intersections include ITO, W-point, Ashram Chowk, Punjabi Bagh crossing, Paharganj Chowk, Rajghat, Chandiram Akhada, Moti Bagh crossing, Chhatr Marg and Kingsway Camp Chowk among others, traffic officials said.
The traffic police since Monday have started educating people in general and violators in particular. "As part of this, the regular staff deployed at the intersections would distribute road safety material like pamphlets etc," said a senior traffic official.
Asked if that meant there would be no enforcement, the official said, "Enforcement will of course continue."
