Trinamool against FDI in retail

A day before the cabinet is set to discuss a proposal to allow 51% FDI in multi-brand retail, Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee raised a red flag over the UPA’s plan to expand the scope of FDI.

A day before the cabinet is set to discuss a proposal to allow 51% FDI in multi-brand retail, Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee raised a red flag over the UPA’s plan to expand the scope of FDI.

Echoing a somewhat similar line of the Left parties, Trinamool Congress said it would oppose FDI in multi-brand retail, pension sector and may even oppose the proposal to allow foreign airlines buying stakes in Indian airline companies.

While the airline and retail sector FDI is slated to be passed through cabinet decision, the UPA has to pass the pension fund regulatory and development authority in Parliament.
