Two prisoners found dead in Tihar under mysterious circumstances

Two prisoners inside Tihar jail were found dead under mysterious circumstances on Thursday morning. The incident comes just four days after a prisoner was murdered by three other inmates inside the country's largest prison.

Police said the deceased Ritesh(32) and Amit(26) who were lodged in jail number 8 were found unconscious when a jail officer visited their ward in the morning. Officials said that prima facie, investigation revealed the two had taken drugs last night. They were rushed to the nearby Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) hospital where doctors declared them brought dead.

A team of police officers from the Hari Nagar police station questioned the fellow inmates.

Tihar officials said that a magisterial probe has been ordered. Meanwhile, police is waiting for the post mortem report to ascertain the cause of death.
