Ugandan girl fights off abductors in south Delhi

Four young and ‘educated’ men from affluent backgrounds, including one interning as a chef at a five-star hotel, allegedly abducted and subsequently attempted to rape a 30-year-old woman from Uganda in south Delhi late Friday night.

The incident bears some shades of the horrific December 16 gang rape: the victim was lured into a Skoda Octavia, physically assaulted while being driven around the Chhatarpur area for several kilometres and finally dumped in Mahipalpur around 6.30am on Saturday.

The PCR that attended to the victim of the 16/12 gang rape also attented to this victim.

“According to the victim, she met the men at the Bristol Hotel in Gurgaon and was offered a lift,” said an officer.

Police have identified the accused as Gagandeep, the intern chef, Prakhar Gupta, who recently completed his MA in mass communication, Siddhesh, an engineer from Madhya Pradesh, and Swapnil, a school dropout.

Gangandeep is the owner of the car, which he was driving that night. All of the accused are residents of east Delhi’s Mayur Vihar and aged between 22 and 30 years. They have been booked for molestation.

Doctors at AIIMS Trauma Centre — where the woman is admitted — said her condition is stable.
