VHP takes on BJP in Uttarakhand

The VHP believes the move will — “under the ploy of generating electricity — snuff her out and exterminate (her) inside the concrete concentration channels”.
VHP international president Ashok Singhal is scathing in his criticism of the state government over the projects, and will talk to BJP president Nitin Gadkari on the issue.
“In all probability, the hydroelectric projects on the Ganga, instead of being power generation units, have become more of goldmines for vested interests in the government,” Singhal said here on Monday.
When asked about the fact that it was the Nishank government that was doing this, he shot back: “I have nothing to do with (Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal) Nishank. He is nobody. The BJP has to clarify its policy on the Ganga, and I will talk to Gadkari about it.”
He said he already had a talk with Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh, who too agreed that the Ganga would die if it was not taken care of.
