On being asked about what police would do to prevent violent protests and 'drama' on Valentine's Day celebrations, the police chief YS Dadwal said, "You have used the right word 'drama'.

"I must assure you that we will take very strict action against people who are involved in it. No such activities are tolerable in Delhi and these we cannot accept," he said at a press conference.

Disapproving the alleged harassment of a couple by police who charged them with making obscene acts in the public, he said action would be taken against the errant policemen.

"We are not moral police. We will only take action against those indulged in acts of outrageous nature," he said.

Yesterday, the Delhi High Court stayed criminal proceedings against a newly married couple that were charged with making obscene act in public place.

The Court expressed its displeasure after finding that the police had conducted verification about the couple and found that both are married and staying in the same residential address. However, police went ahead with the case prosecuting the couple.
