In an incident which questions the security provided for the volunteers of the Commonwealth Games, a 17-year-old youth was allegedly attacked by bikers when he objected to them eve-teasing his colleagues. To top it, police stations of two districts fought over jurisdiction for more ten hours, delaying investigations.

The incident happened at Rajouri Garden in the wee hours of Saturday. The victim Tarun Kumar, a yoga student performing at the Commonwealth Games, was on his way back home in a DTC bus.

Their bus broke down at Dhaula Kuan and another bus was provided to them.

Around 3 a.m., while they were in the Rajouri Garden area, some motorcycle-borne men started following them and allegedly eve-teased some of the female volunteers.

"They hooted and kept circling the bus. Kumar, along with others, allegedly tried to stop them. Later, the bus managed to out-maneuver the bikers and went on its course," said a senior police officer on the condition of anonymity, as he was not authorised to speak to the media.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sharad Aggarwal said, "The boy managed to note a vehicle registration number. We are investigating the matter."

According to victim, the police was called but the Rajouri Garden Police station and Naraina Police Station fought over jurisdiction, which caused a delay in investigations. The case was finally registered on Saturday morning.

Kumar, who is to perform at the opening ceremony, is admitted in the Trauma Centre of All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
