Walk for admission not free from stumbles on first day

First day of admissions turned out to be a harrowing experience for many young students.

The DU branch of State Bank of India in Hindu College stopped issuing demand drafts in the afternoon, stating they issue drafts only in the morning.

“Applications to the certificate and language diploma courses I want to apply for are being accepted till late afternoon. But the bank has stopped issuing drafts,” said Sarita Nair, a Delhi university aspirant.

“What use is it to have a bank on campus if it cannot even issue drafts during admission time?”

The Faculty of Social Science, which was accepting forms for various diploma and postgraduate courses and also conducting university examinations at the same time, was in a complete mess,

“When I came to buy my form, the security guards started checking my bags, thinking I had come to give an exam," said Vivek Sinha, a student.

“Then they told me the forms were not being sold today. But when I saw my friend come out with a form, I went and gave them a piece of mind,” he said.
