If you do not have an identity card, you won’t be able to buy a bicycle in the Capital. The Delhi Police have asked shopkeepers to sell bicycles only if the buyer produces an identity card.

The instruction came after it was revealed that the perpetrators of the recent blasts in Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Jaipur had used bicycles to plant explosives in the market and other public places.
"We have asked the shopkeepers to keep a vigil on the buyers and verify their identity before selling them the bicycle," a Delhi Police officer said. "We have also asked the shopkeepers to keep a copy of the identity cards of the buyers with them," the officer said.
The hotels and cyber cafe owners in the city have been also asked to keep an eye on visitors and record their complete details.
These instructions were issued after the 2005 blasts in Delhi but now are being implemented strictly, the officer said.
