While the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre is busy putting its house in order, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is waiting for the government to reply with a concrete proposal on adjournment motion on FDI in multi-brand retail.

During the day, no formal communication between the government and the principal opposition party took place, according to BJP sources.
Parliamentary affairs minister Pawan Kumar Bansal had told Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj that he will get back to her after the Congress Core Committee meeting.
As the Core Committee didn't take any final call, the government didn't offer any new proposal to the BJP that is demanding a rollback of the FDI policy and an adjournment motion on the issue.
Meanwhile, Swaraj questioned why the Congress is fielding a "junior" spokesperson Manish Tewari to talk about a key issue like the FDI.
"Why is the Congress president silent? Is there a difference between the government and the party on this issue?" she asked.
